Power supply selection for emergency lighting
Release Time . 2025-02-21Classification of emergency lighting power supply
The emergency lighting power supply is switched to emergency mode when the mains power supply no longer provides the minimum brightness required for normal lighting, that is, the voltage drop of the normal lighting power supply is below 60% of the rated voltage.
Emergency lighting power supply can be roughly divided into the following types:
(1) Feed lines from the power network that is effectively separated from the normal power supply.
(2) Diesel generator set.
(3) Battery power supply.
(4) Combined power supply: that is, from any two or three power supply combination mode of above.
Here focus on – Battery power supply, which is also one of the main service objects of Phenix products
. Battery power supplies can be classified into three types: batteries provided by lamps, battery groups set in a centralized manner, and battery groups set in a centralized manner by zones.
The battery power supply installed in luminaries, e.g.: Phenix Lighting product series Integrated led AC + Emergency Driver 18450X , Class 2 Output LED Emergency Driver 18470X , Linear LED Emergency Driver 18490X and Cold-Pack LED Emergency Driver 18430X.
Determination of transition time
The conversion time shall be determined according to the actual project and relevant specifications.
(1) The conversion time of standby lighting should not be more than 15s (seconds);
(2) The conversion time of evacuation lighting should not be greater than 15s;
(3) The conversion time of safety lighting should not be greater than 0.5s;
Determination of duration of illumination
It is not difficult to see that the continuous working time of emergency lighting is limited by certain conditions from the requirements of the types of emergency lighting power supply and the conversion time.
It is usually stipulated that the continuous working time of evacuation lighting should not be less than 30 minutes, which can be divided into 6 grades, such as 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes, according to different requirements.
